The connection between the brain and the sense of smell
Your olfactory or sense of smell nerve endings are in direct contact with the outside world (not covered by skin) and respond very quickly to input, such as when you smell something wonderful or something bad and you immediately feel hungry or nauseous .
Your smell system (olfactory system) has a powerful influence on your mood and your general sense of happiness and well-being.
A few drops are sufficient to have a significant effect on your brain, such as evoking associations and memories.
The effect of smell has a powerful effect on your central nervous system.
When you smell something, it affects your mood, activates your emotions, and counteracts stress.
Essential oils can have an effect on your hormone system, due to their influence on your hypothalamus.
The oils can also affect the part of your brain that deals with memory and learning.
