If you ever wondered what hope smells like, open a bottle of Ylang ylang essential oil and allow the fragrance of liquid sunshine interwoven with lingering wisps of moonlight to envelop you.
If you close your eyes, you will be transported from gloom to glory in seconds by this deeply calming oil, and long for a companion to share your evening with.
Pressed from the flowers of the Ylang ylang tree native to the Philippines, this heady oil is used in the preparation of some of your favourite perfumes like 24 Faubourg Hermès, and Paco Rabanne Pure XS For Her.
Apart from being an aphrodisiac, the oil also promises to calm the mind, heal a hurting feminine heart, and balance hormones.
Ylang ylang (this double name means flower of flowers) helps you with the following:
• Lifts your depression.
• Comes to your aid if you have a panic attack.
• Dispels fear.
• Calms rapid breathing when you are stressed.
• It will instil a deep calm when you feel overwhelmed.
• Ylang ylang lowers high blood pressure.
• If your heart is palpitating during stressful
• times, it will help calm it down.
Both men and women can benefit emotionally from this oil.
The woman who doesn’t allow herself to live and tends to dress drably and ignores her inherent feminine beauty, finds Ylang ylang helpful. Angry and frustrated women will benefit from this oil as well.
Men who are too harsh with themselves will benefit from a blend of Ylang ylang, Sweet orange, Bergamot or Sandalwood. In general men find the aroma too sweet, therefore one drop in a blend will suffice.
Ylang ylang blends well with Bergamot, Lavender, Lemon, Neroli, Orange, Patchouli, Rose, Rosewood, and Sandalwood.
Blend to ease anger and frustration for women:
3 drops Roman chamomile
2 drops Ylang ylang
3 drops Rose Geranium
2 drops lavender
This gives a total of 10 drops, that can be blended on 15ml carrier oil.
